Outback to close 9 stores next month, with 300 employees affected
Restaurant chain Outback Steakhouse will terminate the operation of its nine outlets in Hong Kong on August 4, affecting about 300 employees, while the remaining 10 outlets in Hong Kong will continue to operate.
The group said the arrangement is a commercial decision and it will continue to serve the Hong Kong market as it has done in the past.
Outback Steakhouse is an American steakhouse chain featuring Australian specialties. The group just opened its 19th branch in Hong Kong in April this year, with a site of 3,800 square feet in Central.
According to the MPFA, the group has 19 restaurants and has failed to pay the MPF contributions and surcharges for the month of May to June 2024 for about 40 employees, mainly from four of the restaurants, involving a total amount of about HK$60,000.
