Kevin Yeung to watch fencing, swimming events at Olympics today
The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Kevin Yeung, continued his visit to Paris, France, today (July 29, Paris time). He watched competitions participated by athletes of the Hong Kong, China Delegation and cheered for them at various competition venues over the past few days.
Yeung watched Hong Kong athletes competing in the Table Tennis Women's Singles and Mixed Doubles events at the table tennis venue, and showed support to Hong Kong swimming athletes at the aquatic facility yesterday (July 28, Paris time). He will watch fencing and swimming events today.
"The presence of Hong Kong athletes at the Olympics never comes about by chance. Instead it is a recognition of their ability and perseverance. Our athletes have deserved praise for their fighting spirit. While several athletes are first-time competitors, some of them have competed once or more in the Olympics already. What they share in common are good sportsmanship and the pursuit of excellence. They make us proud."
"Moreover, the co-operation among their coaches and support teams, the support from the Hong Kong Sports Institute, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China and national sports associations, as well as the encouragement and trust of their families are important. We will continue to give our full support to Hong Kong athletes and their teams to achieve good results in the Paris Olympic Games," Yeung said.
