A Tanzanian-flagged cargo ship has sunk near Kaohsiung Port in Taiwan due to the impact of Typhoon Gaemi, with nine Myanmar crew members reported missing.

Taiwan's fire department reported receiving information about a cargo ship sinking off the southern coast this morning (July 25). The nine Myanmar crew members were wearing life jackets and abandoned the ship, floating in the sea. Rescue teams have contacted a nearby Taiwanese cargo ship to assist in the search and rescue efforts.

Additionally, since yesterday (July 24), four incidents of foreign cargo ships running aground have been reported in the western waters of Taiwan. One of these incidents involves a Mongolian-flagged cargo ship stranded near Dapeng Bay in Pingtung, with eight crew members awaiting rescue.
