Typhoon Gaemi has resulted in two deaths and 201 injuries, according to Taiwan's Disaster Response Center.

The center of Typhoon Gaemi made landfall near Nan'ao Township in Yilan County around midnight today (July 25), the storm is currently moving west-northwest, with its storm circle encompassing Taiwan and Penghu, causing intensifying wind and rain across the regions, according to data from Taiwan's meteorological department, Xinhua News Agency.

At 6 a.m. today, the Central Meteorological Observatory issued a red typhoon warning. As of 5 a.m. this morning, the center of Typhoon Gaemi was located approximately 110 kilometers southeast of Pingtan County, Fuzhou, Fujian Province, in the northeastern Taiwan Strait.

It is expected that Gaemi will move west-northwest at a speed of 10-15 kilometers per hour and make landfall along the coast from Xiuyu to Lianjiang in Fujian Province between this afternoon and tonight.

Affected by Gaemi, from 8 a.m. on July 25 to 8 a.m. on July 26, heavy to torrential rains are expected in southern Zhejiang, most of Fujian, and eastern Guangdong. Particularly heavy rain is forecasted for southeastern Zhejiang, eastern Fujian, and southeastern Guangdong, with extremely heavy rain in northeastern Fujian.

On July 25, 22 counties and cities in Taiwan announced the suspension of work and classes. All 264 flights across Taiwan were canceled, and high-speed rail services were suspended until 3 p.m.
