Watch This | Hong Kong Cat Expo 2024: Kitties' got talent

Organized by Exhibition Group, the "Hong Kong Cat Expo 2024" ("Expo"), will be held from August 2 to 4, 2024 (Friday to Sunday). Following the resounding success of its inaugural edition, which attracted 180,000 visitors in just three days last year, the Expo has established itself as Hong Kong's premier large-scale event dedicated to cats.

The event aims to showcase and offer a wide range of cat-themed products to feline enthusiasts while promoting cat culture. It will bring together an array of creative cat art products, art toys, and lifestyle items from both overseas and local vendors, providing cat lovers with an exceptional shopping and leisure experience.

Exhibition Group released the "The Analysis Survey on Cat Ownership Statistics and Trends in Hong Kong 2024" on the same day. The survey, conducted online in June, interviewed around 1,000 cat owners. It found that over 60% of respondents own two or more cats, with 12.4% owning four or more, an increase of 1% from last year. The most popular breeds among Hong Kong people are, in order: Domestic Shorthair, British Shorthair, Ragdoll, American Shorthair, and Exotic Shorthair. 87.9% of respondents indicated that their cat care expenses had increased over the past 12 months, with average monthly spending reaching HK$1,889, a sharp 26.4% increase from last year's HK$1,495. The proportion of those spending HK$3,500 to HK$5,000 per month on their cats jumped from 4% last year to 10%. Economic conditions, cat age, and medical care are the main factors affecting these expenses.
