Bangkok Horror: Young HK model found dead, boyfriend claims suicide

According to reports from Thai media on Saturday (July 20), a horrific murder involving a Hong Kong national occurred in Bangkok last Thursday (July 18).

The victim, a young Hong Kong model, was stabbed nine times and tragically died. Her boyfriend, also from Hong Kong, has been arrested by local police, although he denies the murder, claiming that his girlfriend took her own life.

The Hong Kong Immigration Department stated that they were informed of the incident yesterday and have immediately sought clarification through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong and the Chinese Embassy in Thailand. However, they have not yet received any requests for assistance from the affected Hong Kong nationals. The department will continue to liaise with the embassy and closely monitor the situation.

The victim, 24-year-old Gwendoline Cretton, was described as an Eurasian model with a Swiss passport and frequently shot advertisements for various foreign brands. A modeling agency in Hong Kong confirmed that they had not been in contact with her for six months after her contract ended.

The boyfriend, Wai Kit, who has been arrested for murder, claims that Gwendoline committed suicide. Reports indicate that she was killed in her luxury apartment in the Prawet district of Bangkok around 6:15 PM on July 18. Neighbors reported hearing her screams, prompting them to investigate. Wai and two other neighbors were seen on CCTV footage carrying what appeared to be Gwendoline from the apartment.

CCTV footage also shows Wai's yellow car lingering near the victim's residence during the time of the incident. Following a police report, an initial investigation classified the case as murder, leading to Wai's arrest. Authorities found Gwendoline with nine stab wounds, including a severed throat and chest injuries, indicating a brutal attack. During questioning, Wai insisted that his girlfriend had taken her own life, but police investigations and CCTV evidence suggested that Gwendoline was murdered in her home.

Local police discovered that the victim had been walking her dog near her apartment at around 5:30 PM on the day of the incident, appearing to be in good spirits. The motive for the murder is still under investigation.
