Pandas coming home | Playful and relaxed: Giant panda 'Fu Bao' adapts well to life in China
Since returning from South Korea in early April, the much-anticipated giant panda "Fubao" has been residing at the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda Wolong Shenshuping Base (Giant Panda Wolong Shenshuping Base). On July 20, Fubao will celebrate her first birthday back home in China. Since her official debut, Fubao has been in excellent condition. According to her caretaker, Xu Xiang, Fubao has already adapted to life in her homeland, displaying a relaxed demeanor.
The Giant Panda Wolong Shenshuping Base is located at the Wolong National Reserve, covering 150 hectares with an average altitude of about 1,700 meters. Surrounded by mountains and rich vegetation, with fresh air, it is an ideal natural habitat for giant pandas. The base is home to over 70 giant pandas of various ages, including repatriated pandas like "Sheng Yi" and "Tai Shan."
Xu Xiang described Fu Bao as a "naughty lady" because she is generally gentle and well-behaved but also lively and playful when outdoors, enjoying jumping, climbing, and digging. Xu also stated that he attaches great importance to establishing a trusting relationship with Fu Bao. To help her adapt more quickly to new surroundings, he often gently strokes her nose after feeding and safely tickles her to familiarize her with his voice and smell.
"Thank you all for your love for Fu Bao. We will do our utmost to take good care of her. Watching the pandas grow up happily and healthily is the most joyful and satisfying thing," Xu said.
