Secretary for Education Choi Yuk-lin visited the Jockey Club Ti-I College to encourage the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE) Examination candidates and later met with the media today (July 17).
Choi expressed her happiness at the school to share this critical moment of the DSE results announcement with the students, cheer them on, and witness them starting a new chapter in their lives.
Choi mentioned that she developed a "HEART" to help the students face the results. She explained that "H" stands for Health, hoping the students maintain a healthy body. "E" represents Emotional well-being, emphasizing the importance of a positive attitude when facing challenges. She urged students to remember their dreams regardless of the results, as their future is determined by themselves, not by their report cards.
Choi further explained that "A" stands for Attitude, encouraging students to maintain an optimistic outlook, as there are always more opportunities than they might imagine. She advised students to utilize various information platforms or hotlines to gather information and make the best decisions.
She noted that this year, tertiary institutions and training organizations offer 22,400 bachelor's degree programs and 24,500 sub-degree places, totaling 46,900 places, thus providing many student options. The most important thing is to choose their path, as all roads lead to Rome, and with good planning, they will succeed.
Choi said that "R" stands for Relaxation. At critical moments, she reminded students to relax, share their feelings with those around them when worried, pay attention to their emotions and thought patterns, arrange their daily schedules well, focus on things they like, and maintain control over their feelings to prepare well for further studies or employment.
She also said that "T" stands for Thankful and pointed out that today is a checkpoint in their secondary education and a culmination of their primary education foundation. Choi hoped that students will appreciate their years of hard work in completing the DSE exams and thank their teachers and parents, who have always been their most vital support.
