After the initial 2 kilometers, the metered rate for urban taxis will increase to HK$2.1 per subsequent 200 meters; New Territories and Lantau Island taxis will increase to HK$1.9 per subsequent 200 meters.
For urban taxis, the rate will further increase to HK$1.4 per 200 meters after 9 kilometers; for New Territories taxis, the rate will increase to HK$1.4 per 200 meters after 8 kilometers, and for Lantau Island taxis, the rate will increase to HK$1.6 per 200 meters after 20 kilometers.
The waiting time charge will be adjusted accordingly due to the increase in the metered rate after the flag-down, while other surcharges remain unchanged.
The Transport Department stated that if taxi meters have not yet been adjusted to display the new fares, taxi drivers must display the new and old fare conversion table issued by the Transport Department in the cabin, and passengers must pay the new fare according to the conversion table.
The taxi fare receipt issued to passengers by the driver when collecting the new fare based on the fare conversion table must state the total fare charged at the new rate.
