Costco raises membership fees for first time in seven years, not involving Mainland for now
Costco, a membership chain that has not adjusted its annual membership fee for years, announced that it will increase the annual membership fee in the United States and Canada from September 1, with the annual membership fee for ordinary members increasing from US$60 (approximately HK$468) to US$65 (approximately HK$507) and the annual membership fee for executive members rising from US$120 (approximately HK$937) to US$130 (approximately HK$1,015), according to the company.
This price adjustment does not involve Costco in Mainland China for the time being. The annual fee for a Mainland Costco membership card is RMB299, however, the membership card is a global card and can be used at more than 860 shops including Japan, the United Kingdom and Canada.
The price increase is the first time since 2017 that Costco has raised its annual membership fee, affecting 52 million members.
