Chief Executive John Lee has emphasized that Hong Kong is one of the most competitive economies globally, closely linked with major international business hubs. He described Hong Kong as a vibrant, free, open, convenient, and safe business hub.

Lee highlighted Hong Kong's unique advantage of being backed by Mainland China while connecting with the world, serving as a distinctive two-way platform for Mainland enterprises investing overseas and foreign companies entering the Mainland market.

In his speech at a forum hosted by the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong, Lee noted that Hong Kong will provide high-quality services to enterprises from Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) member countries, including supply chain management, financial, and professional services. These services are intended to promote the economic and innovative technology development of RCEP members and the region.

Since taking office, Lee has led delegations with officials from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government on visits with business and professional groups. These included trips to ASEAN and the Middle East last year, where he participated in various international conferences to garner support from relevant governments and organizational members for Hong Kong's accession to RCEP.

With the Central Government's full support and collective efforts, Hong Kong has received positive responses from most RCEP members. Lee expressed confidence that Hong Kong's accession to RCEP will enhance regional cooperation and contribute to mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
