Ingrid Yeung: Govt officials most importantly responsible for upholding national security

Ingrid Yeung, Secretary of the Civil Service, stated that upholding the constitutional order and national security are of utmost importance to government workers, in accordance with the civil servant code of conduct.

The authorities earlier revised the Civil Service Code, which lays out 12 fundamental values and standards of conduct, including political neutrality, confidentiality, and integrity.

World youth summit to be held in HK in August, Alice Mak says

The Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Alice Mak, said a summit would be held in August to provide an opportunity for young people from different places to come together and exchange ideas.

More than 1,000 youth leaders and speakers from different parts of the world, including the mainland, would be invited to the Youth Development Summit, she said.

She also noted that young people attending the event could understand global development trends and plan their future effectively.

Meanwhile, she said the government was working well with district councils and care teams to provide comprehensive support to people living in different areas.

John Lee: HK airport display system breakdown must not happen again

The Chief Executive, John Lee, said in a press conferenceon June 25 that he is very concerned about the failure of the display system at the Hong Kong Airport and considers that the incident should not have happened.

He added that the Transportation and Logistics Bureau has met with the management of the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) after the incident, and has also received an immediate brief from the AAHK on the cause of the incident and improvement measures.

The government has requested AAHK to conduct a detailed investigation into the cause of the incident and submit a report which, apart from addressing the cause of the incident, should also include contingency measures, a review of the capability to cope with the incident after it has occurred, as well as a plan for enhancement, according to Lee.

HK nominated one of world's top 9 sustainable travel destinations

The Environment and Ecology Bureau (EEB) posted on social media platforms on Wednesday that Hong Kong had been selected as one of the world's nine sustainable travel destinations in a study on sustainable tourism published by an international travel website.

In an interview with the media, the travel website said that Hong Kong was selected mainly because of its excellent natural environment, which is attractive to travelers. The newly launched plastic-free campaign is also conducive to sustainable development, enabling travelers to enjoy more environmentally friendly journeys.

According to the EEB, Hong Kong is one of the most diverse cities in the world in terms of natural landscape. There are currently 25 country parks in Hong Kong, together with 22 special areas, covering about 44,800 hectares, or more than 40% of Hong Kong's land area.

In addition, Hong Kong's plastic-free campaign is a global trend that helps promote sustainable tourism.
