Watch This | John Lee: HK airport display system breakdown must not happen again

The Chief Executive, John Lee, said in a press conference before attending the Executive Council meeting today (June 25) that he is very concerned about the failure of the display system at the Hong Kong Airport and considers that the incident should not have happened.

He added that the Transportation and Logistics Bureau has met with the management of the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) after the incident, and has also received an immediate brief from the AAHK on the cause of the incident and improvement measures.

The government has requested AAHK to conduct a detailed investigation into the cause of the incident and submit a report which, apart from addressing the cause of the incident, should also include contingency measures, a review of the capability to cope with the incident after it has occurred, as well as a plan for enhancement, according to Lee.

Lee emphasized that the Hong Kong International Airport is one of HK's key competitiveness and must provide world-class services. Therefore, it is important to provide passengers with quality and stable services. The government will request the AAHK to conduct a detailed investigation in this regard so that similar incidents will not happen.
