Dental graduates required to intern for one year before registering to practise

Earlier on, the government proposed to amend the Dentists Registration Ordinance to require dental graduates from next year onwards to undergo another year of internship before they can be registered to practise.

The Secretary for Health, Lo Chung-mau, said that the government invests a large amount of money in the training of dental students every year, and that the public absolutely has the right to request the dental colleges to improve their training to meet the expectations of the community.

During the internship, students will have the opportunity to go to different posts and come into contact with different cases, which will give them a more comprehensive training and understanding, he said.
