CE: Hydrogen development strategy to be announced next Monday
The Legislative Council (LegCo) held the Chief Executive's Interactive Exchange Question and Answer Session (Q&A Session) this morning (June 13), with the themes of "developing new quality productive forces" and "promoting Chinese Culture and fostering culture and tourism integration" respectively.
The Environment and Ecology Bureau will announce the strategy for hydrogen development in Hong Kong next Monday, said Chief Executive John Lee.
He mentioned that the government has already done a lot of work on hydrogen energy, including hydrogen buses which are now in trial operation.
"In addition, there is a plan to introduce hydrogen vehicles for street washing vehicles this year, as well as hydrogen vehicles for refuse collection vehicles and trams," said Lee.
Lee also mentioned that the government also attaches importance to hydrogen refilling facilities and hydrogen power generation facilities.
"Hydrogen has many benefits, but the safety requirements for maintenance and storage need attention... The Environment and Ecology Bureau will not only launch a strategy, but also focus on studying the safety guidelines."
