A fatal traffic accident occurred in Tai Po yesterday (June 9). At around 1 pm, a Tesla collided head-on with a seven-seater vehicle that was allegedly driving in the wrong direction on Sam Mun Tsai Road in Tai Po, resulting in one death and five injuries.

The 52-year-old male driver of the seven-seater vehicle was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death. He is currently being detained for investigation.

The police are investigating the traffic accident, and the case has been handed over to the Special Investigation Team of the Traffic Unit of the New Territories North Regional Headquarters for follow-up.

According to the police, at 1:13 pm, a 52-year-old man was driving a private car in the wrong direction on Sam Mun Tsai Road, with one male and three female passengers aged 18 to 81 on board. When the private car reached the area near No. 3 Yu On Street, it collided head-on with a private car driven by a 34-year-old woman traveling towards Ting Kok Road.

The 79-year-old female passenger showed no visible injuries but was unconscious when transported to the Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead at 2:19 pm. The 81-year-old male passenger suffered chest pains and was unconscious when sent to the Prince of Wales Hospital, but he later regained consciousness. The male driver, female driver, and the other two passengers were conscious when sent to the Prince of Wales Hospital and the Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital for treatment.
