Magician David Copperfield accused of sexual misconduct by 16 women
The famous magician David Copperfield, 67, whose global popularity reached a peak in the 1990s and who brought the most modern magic techniques to large audiences, has been accused of sexual misconduct by 16 women, according to an investigation carried out by the newspaper The Guardian and published on Wednesday.
According to the American edition of the British paper, the attacks cover from the late 1980s to 2014, lasting for more than 30 years. To make it even worse, when they allegedly took place, more than half of the girls were aged under 18; some said they were as young as 15.
Three of the girls involved accuse Copperfield of having drugged them to have sexual relations so that they could not give their consent, and four others claimed that he touched them inappropriately on their breasts and other private parts during the show.
The magician denies all the allegations.
