The Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Director of the State Council's Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, Xia Baolong, will begin a week-long inspection trip in Macao on Monday (May 13).
In a statement, the Macao SAR Government said that Xia's trip aims to understand better the latest developments in Macao's society and economy. Chief Executive Ho Iat-seng expressed the city's warm welcome for the director's visit, pledging to make necessary arrangements to ensure the success of the inspection.
Ho also conveyed Macao's gratitude for the central government's longstanding support and concern for the SAR.
This visit comes just a few months after Xia traveled to Hong Kong in February, where he met with people from various sectors, including finance, business, and the legal profession.
The upcoming trip continues Xia's efforts to closely monitor the situations in both Hong Kong and Macao, underscoring the central government's focus on maintaining stability and development in the two SARs.
