Encouraging young musicians: Hong Kong International Young Musicians Competition announces 2024 winners

The final round of the 4th Hong Kong International Young Musicians Competition concluded on April.13. 

The final round of the 4th Hong Kong International Young Musicians Competition concluded on April.13 at the Auditorium Tsuen Wan Town Hall of Hong Kong, China. The competition was open to all nationalities and was divided into four categories according to age.

In category A, for candidates up to seven, the first prize was awarded to Yoon Jibin, receiving US$800, and Pirastro Violin Perpetual Set Mittel and Rosin. The second prize of US$500 went to Keira Shing, and third prize of US$200 was shared between Lu Xiyuan Amelia and Ng Wan Chi, 4th Prize went to Guan Zejialin, 5th Prize shared between Elizabeth Chiu and Lyu Shuyong, 6th Prize went to Yeung Yat Man Enanuella.

The competition was established in 2020 to provide young musicians with a platform to express their creative and artistic abilities and to meet and share their musical thoughts with competitors from around the world.

In category B, for candidates aged 8–10, the first prize of US$1200 and a pirastro violin perpetual set mittel and rosin was won by Ma TengYing. The second prize of US$800 went to Chen Li Daniel Valentino, Eleanor Wong won the third prize of US$500, 4th Prize went to Chan Sin Ka, 5th Prize went to Felix Zeng, 6th Prize shared between Duan Yue Yi and Chao Alexis Yen Yi.

In category C, for candidates aged 11–15, the first prize was won by Liu Chunxi, receiving US$1600, pirastro violin perpetual set mittel, and rosin. The second prize of $1200 was awarded to Huang Yushan, and Xu Langyi won the third prize of US$800; 4th the 6th Prize went to Wong Ching Ho, Lee Pui San Abigail, and Wong Ngai Wan Evangeline.

In category D, for candidates aged 16-23, the first prize of US$2000, pirastro violin perpetual set mittel and rosin, was won by Kim Byeol Claire. Wu Mengdie won the second prize of US$1600, Sofia Malvinni and Ian Cheung shared the third prize of US$1200, 4th Prize went to Wu Yingtong, and Lin Tinyuan won 5th Prize.

The competition was established in 2020 to provide young musicians with a platform to express their creative and artistic abilities and to meet and share their musical thoughts with competitors from around the world. This year’s jury comprised Savva Fatkulin, Ho-Young Pi, Feng Jia, etc., chaired by artistic director Kirill Troussov.
