Watch This | The Northeast remembers: Japanese Unit 731's crime in Harbin
Harbin, the capital city of China's northernmost province Heilongjiang, sharing a 3,000 km (1,864 miles) border with Russia, has become the first "Internet-famous city" in mainland China this year. It continues to attract attention and is a popular tourist destination. While the city's streets are bustling and filled with warm smiles, the Exhibition Hall of Evidence of Crime Committed by Unit 731 of the Japanese Imperial Army used to be less popular but now draws a large number of visitors silently exploring the solemn and quiet site.
This site, known as the Unit 731 Evidence Exhibition Hall, was a Japanese biological warfare research and experimental base established in Harbin during World War II. It holds undeniable evidence of the atrocities committed by the Japanese army against Chinese compatriots.
"Don't look back; keep moving forward, and you'll find the light." "Remember the path you took to get here, which represents our nation's suffering and our enemies' cruelty."
While many tourists consider this place the final stop on their itinerary, it should actually be the first stop for those traveling to Harbin. What are your thoughts on that?
