The 2023 District Council Ordinary Election is now in progress.
Paul Lam, Secretary for Justice, said that he voted with his family this morning, which was a convenient and quick process.
"Voting is the right of every individual to make free choices and a valuable asset that has to be used to realize its value and function," said Lam.
He added that the greatest function and value of these rights and assets is to help improve the community, which is the common wish of the public.
Lam also mentioned that he would consider the information provided by all candidates, including their background, education, experience and aspirations, when choosing his favorite Members.
Asked by some people who questioned the government's purpose of distributing the "thank you cards" at polling stations, Lam said the cards were the government's way of expressing its gratitude to the public for caring about the community, and hoped that outsiders would not think too much about it.
