The Gale or Storm Signal No. 8 is in force. Service frequencies of MTR train, Light Rail and MTR Bus have been adjusted in response to passenger demand. High Speed Rail (Hong Kong Section) service maintains normal. The service arrangement is as follows:

MTR will continue to operate under the Gale or Storm Signal No. 8. However, if winds become too strong, service frequencies may be gradually reduced to ensure the safety of passengers and MTR staff. MTR services in open sections (including train, Light Rail, and MTR Bus services) may also be suspended without prior notice. MTR maintenance personnel will conduct track inspections to ensure safe train operations. The relevant service will be suspended if track conditions are deemed unsafe for train service.
Should the Increasing Gale or Storm Signal No. 9 (or higher typhoon signal) be issued, services in open sections of the railway, Light Rail, and MTR Bus will be suspended immediately based on safety considerations. Open sections include the Airport Express, Disneyland Resort Line, East Rail Line – between Lo Wu/Lok Ma Chau Station and Hung Hom Station, Tsuen Wan Line – between Tsuen Wan Station and Lai King Station, Kwun Tong Line – between Choi Hung Station and Tiu Keng Leng Station, Island Line – between Heng Fa Chuen Station and Chai Wan Station, Tung Chung Line – between Kowloon Station and Tung Chung Station, South Island Line – between Admiralty Station and Lei Tung Station, and Tuen Ma Line – between Tuen Mun Station and Tsuen Wan West Station, between East Tsim Sha Tsui Station and Ho Man Tin Station as well as between Diamond Hill Station and Wu Kai Sha Station. MTR will maintain limited train service in underground sections.
Service of the High Speed Rail (Hong Kong Section) will remain normal when the Gale or Storm Signal No. 8 is issued. The Corporation will continue to closely communicate with mainland railway authorities about service arrangements based on the latest weather conditions in Hong Kong and on the mainland. However, High Speed Rail service may be suspended at short notice because of adverse weather conditions. High Speed Rail service will be suspended when the Hurricane Signal No.10 is in force.
During typhoons, MTR service could be further adjusted depending on the severity of the weather conditions and specific safety considerations. The Corporation will continue to provide passengers with the latest train service information via the media, MTR Mobile, High Speed Rail app, the official MTR Facebook page as well as the MTR and High Speed Rail websites. Passengers are advised to check the announcements for updates.
