1-minute News | PRC takes countermeasure in response to Canada's expulsion of Chinese diplomat
On Tuesday, the Canadian government announced the expulsion of a mainland Chinese diplomat Zhao Wei accused of "attempting to intimidate Canadian Conservative Party member Michael Chong and his relatives in Hong Kong".
Later, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said China strongly condemns and firmly opposes this and has lodged serious démarches and strong protest to Canada.
In response to Canada's actions, China has made countermeasures. China decided to declare Jennifer Lynn Lalonde, consul of the Consulate General of Canada in Shanghai persona non grata, who has been asked to leave China before May 13.
