Ho Pak-leung proposes to allow bivalent vaccine as the third vaccination
The Comirnaty vaccine will be received tomorrow (Dec. 1). Ho Pak-leung, Director of the Carol Yu Centre for Infection at the University of Hong Kong, said today (Nov. 30) that the data showed that the bivalent vaccine could better target new variants of the virus and reduce the risk of death and serious illness, and urged the public to receive the vaccination as soon as possible.
Ho said that some people are delaying the vaccination in order to wait for the bivalent vaccine and that the government should extend the bivalent vaccine to the third booster dose.
He also pointed out that with the normalization of anti-epidemic, it is recommended that inbound travelers do not need to undergo nucleic acid testing if they have no symptoms.
According to him, there are still about 50 buildings a day being tested for viruses due to sewage at present, requiring compulsory testing.
Ho suggested that residents who have already received three doses of vaccine should be exempted from testing in order to make good use of resources.
