
Hong Kong on Thursday (August 4) reported 5,020 new COVID-19 infections, of which 247 were imported cases. This is the first time in four months when the daily new cases cross the 5,000 mark.
Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, Dr. Chuang Shuk-kwan of the Center for Health Protection said that the 4,773 local infections included 1,708 PCR test-confirmed cases and 3,065 self-declared positive cases.
Meanwhile, three more COVID-related death has been reported for the past day, bringing the death toll in the fifth wave of infections to 9,314, according to Dr. Lau Ka-hin.
