Coronavirus | HK sees 4,547 new virus cases, 4 deaths

Hong Kong on Wednesday (Aug 3) reported 4,547 new COVID-19 infections, of which 226 were imported cases. This is the fourteenth consecutive day on which the daily new cases surpass 4,000.

Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, Dr. Chuang Shuk-kwan of the Center for Health Protection said that the 4,321 local infections included 1,711 PCR test-confirmed cases and 2,610 self-declared positive cases.

According to Dr. Chuang, 330 schools have reported a total of 437 positive cases in the past day.

Meanwhile, four more COVID-related death has been reported for the past day, bringing the death toll in the fifth wave of infections to 9,311, according to Dr. Lau Ka-hin.
