The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London (London ETO), held a business dinner in Copenhagen, Denmark on June 30 (Copenhagen time), to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The event was co-organized with the Denmark-Hong Kong Trade Association and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
In delivering a welcome speech at the business dinner, the Director-General of the London ETO, Gilford Law, gave the Danish business community an update on the latest development of Hong Kong. In particular, he highlighted the Central Government's support for Hong Kong's development into an international innovation and technology hub as charted in the National 14th Five-Year Plan.
Law said, "Even during the pandemic, the merchandise trade between Hong Kong and Denmark increased by 23 per cent in 2021 over the previous year. I see huge potential for greater exchange and collaboration between Hong Kong and Denmark in various areas, such as innovation and technology, design, re-industrialization, and health care services." He encouraged Danish businesses to tap into the promising business opportunities arising from Hong Kong's unique strengths under "one country, two systems".
