Amazon will stop Kindle China eBookstore service in June next year
Amazon said today (June 2) that it will cease operations of the Kindle eBookstore in mainland China one year from now, on June 30, 2023. After this date, mainland users will not be able to purchase new eBooks. For those who have already purchased eBooks, they can download them until June 30, 2024 and continue to read them thereafter.
Amazon said Kindle China will continue to provide customer service and warranty services for Kindle eBook readers. E-books and personal documents stored on the device will not be affected.
Amazon will also offer non-quality returns for those who purchase a Kindle e-reader after January 1, 2022 and meet the relevant return criteria.
The first generation of Kindle e-readers was released on November 19, 2007 and entered China on June 7, 2013, allowing users to purchase, download and read eBooks, newspapers, magazines, blogs and other electronic media using Amazon Kindle e-readers via the wireless network.
