A hotel in Tsing Yi will be open as a designated quarantine facility for new foreign domestic helpers starting from Nov. 1, becoming the third such facility in the city.
The Labour Department on Saturday (Oct. 23) announced that, starting from Nov. 1, the Rambler Garden Hotel in Tsing Yi will be open as a Designated Quarantine Facility (DQF), providing a total of 500 rooms for quarantine of foreign domestic helpers (FDHs) coming to work in HK.
This is a new DQF in addition to the Penny's Bay Quarantine Centre on Lantau Island and Silka Tsuen Wan.
A room costs HK$650 per night, including three meals and all charges.
Employers of FDHs and employment agencies may, starting from 9.30 a.m. on Oct. 25, reserve a room through the online booking system, the government said.
The person making the reservation will be required to provide the helper's passport copy, valid employment visa and recognized vaccination record to verify his or her identity.
"The hotel will confirm with the persons making the reservation individually and arrange to complete the relevant procedures upon receipt of their bookings," according to the spokesman.
Foreign domestic helpers will also need to provide relevant documents for verification when they check into the facility.
The hotel will review the overall booking situation and adjust the number of rooms open for reservation each day.
The spokesman stressed that the admission of foreign domestic helpers to HK should be resumed in a "gradual and orderly manner" as the global pandemic is severe.
