BioNTech vaccine to arrive in HK on Saturday: source

The first batch of BioNTech vaccine will arrive at Hong Kong on Saturday (Feb. 27) at the earliest, a source familiar with the matter said.

The German-made BioNTech vaccine has to be refrigerated in a very low-temperature environment, which poses great challenges to its transportation and storage.

Secretary for the Civil Services Patrick Nip said earlier today that after the government receives the vaccines, it will properly store the doses and arrange the administration of them in 24 community vaccination centers.
