CE: Vaccination Program gives fillip to HK's fight against COVID-19
Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam and several senior officials of the HKSAR government on Monday (Feb. 22) receive their first shots of the Sinovac vaccine at the Community Vaccination Center at the HK Central Library Exhibition Gallery.
Lam says she is pleased and excited that the vaccine is finally available, describing it as a chance for the world to get out of the epidemic, and she hopes that the whole community would support the program and participate actively.
Lam also calls on the public to get vaccinated as soon as possible, because they have to protect themselves, their families, and friends. She also says that in order to cross the border, people should also be vaccinated as soon as possible.
Lam hopes that by government officials taking the lead in getting vaccinated they could reassure people that the vaccination is safe. She stresses that it is not the time to relax now, and the public still needs to follow the social distancing measures. She hopes that there is no need to deal with another wave of the COVID-19.
