Xi encourages more youngsters in Hong Kong to move to Greater Bay Area
Chinese President Xi Jinping calls on Shenzhen today (Oct.14) to encourage young people from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and Macao Special Administrative Region (Macao SAR) to move to the Greater Bay Area.
Xi wants more young people in HK and Macao to move to Greater Bay Area to "increase their sense of belonging to the motherland."
Xi also asks Shenzhen to take active moves to further promote the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, calling for efforts to synergize economic rules and mechanisms in the three regions.
China needs to use "the important platform of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao cooperation to attract more young people from Hong Kong and Macao to study, work and live in the Chinese mainland." Xi said at the 40th anniversary celebrations of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.
