Tarim Desert Highway is an asphalted road crossing the Taklamakan Desert from the North to the South in China. The 552-kilometer-long desert crossing highway is the world's longest highway across a shifting-sand desert.
This highway built across the shifting-sand dunes gets frequently buried by hazardous sands. So the experience of riding this road is quite surreal and unique.
Tarim Desert Highway across Tarim Basin covers mostly uninhabited and secluded areas. It takes about five hours to ride along the route.
