According to the case announcement on the official website of the Harris County District Court in Texas, where Houston is located, James Harden, the star player currently playing for the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers, was arrested in Houston on June 13 at 3:41 am local time for unlawful carrying of a weapon.
The Houston Chronicle reported that Harden was released several hours after his arrest on the same morning and is scheduled to appear in court on June 22 local time.
According to police records, Harden was driving a Mercedes sedan when he and a convoy of four other vehicles traveled through downtown around 3:40 am. Court records show that when one of the vehicles was pulled over by police near the 1600 block of Jefferson Street, Harden, driving his Mercedes, stopped behind it. During the interaction with police, an officer spotted a gun in the cup holder of Harden's vehicle. According to court records, Harden told police the gun belonged to him. He was then arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail.
