US President Donald Trump, who will turn 80 next month, underwent a physical examination on Tuesday (May 26) at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington, D.C., and later declared on his social media platform Truth Social that "everything checked out PERFECTLY."
Trump arrived at the medical center at around 9 am on Tuesday morning and spent more than three hours undergoing preventative medical and dental checkups, the White House said. The examination was the fourth of his second term.
Upon leaving the hospital, the president wrote on Truth Social: "Just finished my 6-month physical at Walter Reed Military Medical Center. Everything checked out PERFECTLY," thanking the doctors and staff.
Trump, the oldest person ever sworn in as US president, has faced increasing scrutiny over his health during his second term. He has been photographed several times with bruising on his hands, swelling in his ankles, and a rash on his neck, and has appeared tired or seemed to doze off in public on multiple occasions, fueling persistent speculation about his physical condition.
The White House has previously addressed some of those concerns. Last year, press secretary Karoline Leavitt disclosed that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency after doctors evaluated swelling in his legs. The bruising on the back of his hand, officials said, was caused by frequent handshaking and his use of aspirin.
The White House said the examination was part of the president's regular preventative health care, and that Trump remains in overall good health for a man his age.
