A video went viral on social media showing an American mechanic sharing his experience of unexpectedly receiving a complimentary pair of work gloves from a Chinese seller after purchasing automotive repair tools on Amazon.
The pair of gloves brought back a bittersweet sense of being "cared for".
It reminded him of his younger days when buying trading cards always came with free gum, purchasing a dozen donuts often included a few extras, and auto repair shops routinely offered complimentary oil changes with other maintenance or repair work.
He recalled that back then, American businesses were more willing to offer such gestures, genuinely caring about building long-term relationships with customers. However, today, the business environment in the US has become more impersonal.
It's something that we've completely lost track of in this society. There is no thank you from business to consumer anymore. Now is the exact opposite: everything is absolutely cutthroat. And unfortunately, that's what the younger people in this country have come to accept as the norm.
But the point is, somebody in China had the thought. We made this puller. It's used for clutches; clutches are a dirty job. So, here, whoever's doing that will appreciate a fresh new pair of gloves. This is the way business is supposed to be.

Beyond the heartwarming gesture of receiving the gloves, what also impressed the American mechanic was the quality of the automotive repair tools he purchased.
