Professor Johnny Li, a 46-year-old finance professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, was arrested in Sydney, Australia, last month after disguising himself as a local high school student and infiltrating several boys' schools, where he reportedly took voyeuristic photos of at least 36 students. After being apprehended by local police, he admitted to charges of "stalking or intimidation" and two counts of "unlawful entry," resulting in an 18-month good behavior bond. He was allowed to leave and return to Hong Kong on March 6. In response to media inquiries, CUHK expressed serious concern about the incident, stating that the faculty member's position has been suspended and that a committee will be established to investigate. If any violations of conduct are found, they will be dealt with severely.

According to Australian media reports, Li, a Canadian citizen, arrived in Sydney on February 27 and acquired uniforms from four prominent boys' schools, including Saint Ignatius' College Riverview, Sydney Boys High School, Trinity Grammar School in Summer Hill, and Sydney Grammar School (SGS), disguising himself as a student to infiltrate and secretly photograph students.

The report also noted that Lee has a prior record; in 2020, he appeared in a school uniform on the grounds of Sydney Grammar School and attempted to purchase uniforms from the supplier through email, ultimately being reported. At the time of his arrest, Lee was wearing a complete school uniform near Sydney Grammar School, trying to blend in with a group of boys when he was spotted by a teacher, who promptly alerted the police.

Subsequently, officers searched his hotel room and found uniforms from the other three schools, two USB devices, a laptop, and multiple phones containing photos of boys. Court documents indicate that he admitted to police that he had followed male students but claimed that wearing uniforms and taking photos was merely his "personal hobby."
