The MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong & Macao 2026 announced its "Bib Gourmand" recommendations on March 12. This year, the list includes 70 eateries in HK and 13 in Macao, with eight new additions — six from HK and two from Macao. The Bib Gourmand distinction celebrates restaurants that provide high-quality, value-for-money dining experiences, making gourmet cuisine more accessible to the public compared to Michelin-starred establishments.
Among HK's first-time honorees are several locally inspired and international cuisines. Notable mentions include:
- Dragons' Den in Wong Tai Sin, known for its squab, which is dry-aged for five days before being smoked with pear wood and deep-fried;
- Lai's Kitchen in Wan Chai, famous for its clay pot rice;
- Ho Ho Chak, highlighting authentic Chiu Chow delicacies.
The list also showcases HK's diverse culinary culture with international offerings such as:
- Fiata, serving Neapolitan pizza;
- Siaw, known for its Thai-style minced pork omelet rice;
- Uncle Quek, offering lobster laksa.
The Bib Gourmand category, introduced by the Michelin Guide in 1997, highlights restaurants that offer "value for money" dining experiences. Unlike the exclusive Michelin-starred venues, Bib Gourmand eateries focus on affordability without compromising on quality. The price cap for this category is set at HK$400 for a three-course meal, making fine dining more approachable for a broader audience.
