A flight from Hong Kong to Taipei operated by Greater Bay Airlines, originally scheduled for the evening of Feb. 15, had to turn back to Hong Kong for refueling after circling for about seven laps off the coast of Hsinchu due to dense fog near Taoyuan International Airport. The aircraft did not have enough fuel to continue holding while waiting for weather conditions to improve.
The affected flight, Greater Bay Airlines flight HB706, was refueled in Hong Kong and departed again at 2:15 am on Feb. 16, safely landing at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport around 3:30 am.
The return flight, HB707, originally scheduled to depart at 11:10 p.m. on the 16th, was delayed and finally took off from Taoyuan at 4:25 am on Feb.16, arriving back in Hong Kong at 6:01 am.
