Roger Allers, a renowned Disney screenwriter and co-director of the 1994 animated classic "The Lion King," sadly passed away at the age of 76. Dave Bossert, his longtime collaborator and visual effects supervisor, confirmed the news.
Roger Allers co-directed "The Lion King" with Rob Minkoff. The film, released in 1994, achieved global box office earnings of approximately US$771 million (equivalent to HK$6.01 billion). Additionally, Roger Allers directed the 2006 animated film "Open Season" and the Oscar-nominated short "The Little Matchgirl." He also played a key role as a screenwriter and story developer for numerous Disney classics, including "Aladdin," "The Emperor's New Groove," "Brother Bear," and the direct-to-DVD release "The Lion King 1½."
