The 52nd HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, the 17th HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair, and the 24th Hong Kong International Stationery & School Supplies Fair will be held from next Monday (Jan. 12) to next Thursday (Jan. 15) at the Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The three exhibitions, keeping pace with the global trends in trendy toys and toy collecting, are themed "New Play for All" and will attract over 2,600 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions. For the first time, a "Pop & Play" zone will be established, gathering around 150 trendy toy IPs and open simultaneously to industry buyers and the public.

Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), said that these three exhibitions are the first large-scale exhibitions to kick off this year, featuring a highly international lineup of exhibitors. The Toys & Games Fair includes exhibition groups from the Mainland, Taiwan, and South Korea, as well as groups primarily composed of European exhibitors.

The Baby Products Fair features notable groups such as the "Selection of Europe," the Hong Kong Children, Babies, Maternity Industries Association, and the South Korea exhibition group. Furthermore, this year welcomes new exhibitors from countries including Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Norway.

The HKTDC has also organized buyer groups from over 40 countries and regions, comprising more than 200 buyers, to visit and source products on-site. The target is to attract approximately 80,000 buyers to visit, with 50,000 already registered.

A representative from the mainland brand China First Pencil Co., Ltd. said that, having previously participated in many exhibitions overseas, their participation in Hong Kong this time is primarily aimed at connecting with buyers from the Southeast Asian market and countries along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

"We believe that relying on the domestic market and Hong Kong's unique geographical advantages will help the brand develop more markets."

KPop Demon Hunters launched at venue

Chad Li, the person in charge of Fame Bros., mentioned that this exhibition features the first launch of the KPop Demon Hunters Derpy Squishy, a product particularly popular in Europe and America.

"This is our sixth time participating. We want to leverage Hong Kong to explore the Asian market, and if possible, also reach clients in South America or Europe/America."

Angus, a designer from Eastcolight (HK) Limited, said that they have created a new IP toy following the trend of AI this year.

"As we are an internationally-oriented brand, we hope to develop more clients through this exhibition."

The three exhibitions provide a one-stop sourcing platform for buyers to create more cross-industry business opportunities. They will continue to be held in the integrated "Exhibition+" model, combining the physical exhibition with the Click2Match smart business matching platform for online negotiations and matching.

The online exhibition remains open until Jan. 22. Buyers can use the Scan2Match feature to scan the exclusive QR codes of exhibitors and product display cabinets during the physical exhibition, bookmark their favorite exhibitors, and browse product information.

Mainland trendy toy market size expected to exceed 100 billion RMB

Data shows that the global trendy toy market is growing rapidly, with the Mainland trendy retail market size projected to reach a market value of 110.1 billion RMB this year.

According to Koo, to seize the huge business opportunities in the trendy toy market, a "Pop & Play" zone has been specially established for the first time at the Toys & Games Fair this year. As a flagship trade exhibition for trends in Asia, the Toys & Games Fair hopes to build a new trendy circle through this exhibition, helping local trendy brands connect with global traders and buyers, expand into international markets, unleash the commercial potential of trendy toy IPs, assist mainland and overseas brands in promoting and interacting directly with local trendy enthusiasts, and leverage Hong Kong's platform to explore more new business opportunities.

The "Pop & Play" zone, open from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm, features numerous highlights. These include a gathering of international and local star trendy toy brands and IPs, with some IPs launching global and exhibition-first releases and limited-edition treasures. Brand founders and designers will also share their creative insights and artistic careers through seminars and signing sessions.
