According to a report by CCTV News on Dec. 16, the Danish Defense Intelligence Agency (DDIS), in a recently released annual report, has for the first time listed the United States as a potential security threat. The report states that shifts in the US government's strategic focus and increasing pressure on allies are generating new uncertainties for Denmark's national security.

The DDIS report asserts that the US is leveraging its economic strength to impose its will, including threatening other nations with high tariffs, and no longer rules out the use of force, even against allies. DDIS Chief Lars Findsen stated that this shift by the US has created a "dilemma" for Europe.

The report analyzes that the US interest in Greenland, Denmark's autonomous territory, is gradually increasing, emphasizing its significance to US national security. It also notes that the substantially heightened international attention on the Arctic region has raised the threat of espionage, which could potentially impact all of Denmark.

Since his election, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed a strong desire to acquire control over Greenland, a territory that the Danish government has consistently rejected. At least three Americans with close ties to Trump and senior White House officials made multiple trips between the US and Greenland before the end of August. They reportedly attempted to establish private networks, infiltrate local society, and enhance information gathering to encourage Greenland to distance itself from the Danish government and increase its dependence on the US. In response, the Danish Foreign Ministry summoned the US Chargé d'Affaires in Denmark to demand an explanation for the alleged covert activities conducted by the US in Greenland.
