According to a Bloomberg News report on Nov. 11, an internal document reveals that the US military is studying the possibility of constructing a temporary military base near Gaza capable of accommodating 10,000 people. White House Press Secretary Leavitt responded that the US government has not approved such a plan.

Bloomberg stated that it saw a Request for Information (RFI) indicating the US Navy is soliciting cost estimates from pre-qualified companies to build a "self-sustaining temporary military base with a 12-month lifecycle." This base would need to house 10,000 people and provide approximately 10,000 square feet of office space, with a possible location "near Gaza."

According to two informed sources, this document was sent to qualified contractors on Oct. 31. The report clarified that an RFI is not a formal tender document and does not guarantee subsequent contract awards, but it offers the public insight into what products and services federal agencies are seeking from private companies.

When asked about the matter, Leavitt responded that the report is based solely on documents drafted by some personnel within the military. "Such a plan has not been deliberated or approved at the highest levels of the US government and should not be considered a formal plan for the Middle East," she said.

In related news, according to a US media report on Oct. 9, the United States planned to dispatch a 200-member military team to the Middle East to "oversee" the implementation of a Gaza ceasefire agreement. ABC News reported on Nov. 10 of the same month, citing an informed source, that US military personnel had arrived in Israel to assist in implementing the Gaza ceasefire agreement and to "monitor" its execution.
