During the recent National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday travel peak, some passengers resorted to bringing their own folding chairs when they could only purchase standing-room-only tickets for China's high-speed rail system.
A social media user shared their experience of bringing a chair aboard a high-speed train after having to stand for five and a half hours during a previous trip from Chongqing to Zhengzhou. The passenger described sitting in the doorway area as solving comfort issues while jokingly calling themselves the train's "goalkeeper."
When asked about bringing personal chairs onboard, China Railway's 12306 customer service clarified that any carried chair must comply with baggage size regulations—specifically, the sum of its length, width, and height cannot exceed 130 centimeters. Additionally, the chair must not block aisles or impede passenger movement, and placement requires approval from train staff.
