This afternoon (August 28), the Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit conducted a cross-departmental counter-terrorism exercise at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal.
The exercise simulated a scenario where multiple extremists launched a terrorist attack at the cruise terminal. Police Emergency Unit and Counter Terrorism Response Unit stormed the terminal, subduing the attackers after intense gunfire. Personnel from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau then dismantled the explosive devices set by the extremists. The Fire Services Department showcased advanced equipment, including robotic dogs and firefighting robots. Additionally, the Marine Police demonstrated a maritime interception of speedboats involved in terrorist activities. The Government Flying Service helicopter provided aerial support. The exercise also trained various departments in their ability to handle a large number of casualties on-site.
