According to foreign media reports, on the evening of August 25, Phoenix, Arizona, experienced a rare and intense dust storm that engulfed the city with a towering "wall of sand." The National Weather Service issued dual warnings for dust storms and thunderstorms in Maricopa County, with visibility reduced to nearly zero. Authorities urged drivers to "pull over, safety first."

The dust storm formed due to the collapse of thunderstorm clouds, with wind speeds reaching approximately 113 km/h. The swirling dust caused Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to suspend operations for nearly an hour, affecting at least hundreds of flights and damaging several buildings.

In Gilbert, about 35 kilometers southeast of Phoenix, local police reported that all traffic lights in the city went out, trees were downed, and residents were urged to stay indoors for safety.
Videos from the scene showed that on Monday evening, Phoenix and surrounding areas were hit by an unusually large dust storm, with strong winds swirling the dust into a brown "wall" that engulfed multiple homes and major roads within seconds.
Data from the power monitoring website PowerOutage.us indicated that over 77,000 households in Arizona experienced power outages, primarily concentrated in Phoenix and surrounding areas. Local residents described the situation, saying, "If I put my hand out of the window, I can't see my hand at all."
