While attending a recent event, we ran into Leung Wing Mo, former Assistant Director of the Hong Kong Observatory — but it wasn't just his weather expertise that caught our attention. He was wearing a polo shirt with a bold "30" logo on it.
What does it mean?
Leung explained that the logo commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant's operation, which began in 1994. Now serving as Chairman of a nuclear safety consultative committee, Leung shared his insights into the evolution of public perception on nuclear energy, its role in clean power, and why he believes nuclear power is a key part of China's carbon neutrality goals.
From tracking typhoons to promoting nuclear safety, Leung's journey continues — and so does the story behind that "30."
