The 12th World High-Speed Rail Congress opened in Beijing on July 8. Alan Beroud, Chairman of the International Union of Railways (UIC), highly praised China's achievements in high-speed rail development during an exclusive interview with reporters at the congress. He pointed out that China's successful high-speed rail experience provides an important model for developing countries.
Beroud stated that China has built "the world's largest and most technologically advanced high-speed rail system in just over a decade, with its high-speed rail network accounting for more than 70% of the global total mileage, and a cumulative total of 48,000 kilometers completed by the end of 2024."
He added that China's construction of a sustainable transportation ecosystem has had a profound impact on the global development of high-speed rail. He believes that high-speed rail technology can effectively boost the economy, promote trade circulation, and enhance mobility, while also providing zero-emission transportation solutions.
