Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan shared on social media today the great development of Hong Kong's sea, land, air, and logistics in the past year. She said that as an international shipping center, Hong Kong has carried out multiple green marine fuel refuelings locally since February this year.
Hong Kong's comprehensive shipping strength is unquestionable, ranking fourth in the Xinhua-Baltic: International Shipping Centre Development Index Report. The Transport Bureau is also working hard to open up new markets for Hong Kong Port, such as Chongqing and Guangxi, which are the targets of the bureau's efforts to compete for cargo sources.
Chan pointed out that Hong Kong's land transportation can be called "the world's first" and is the world's best public transportation system in the survey of the international travel magazine "Time Out". The Central Kowloon Route is expected to be ready for traffic by the end of the year, and the bureau is also working hard to promote the Hung Shui Kiu to Qianhai Railway, making Hong Kong's local and cross-boundary transportation network more accessible.
Speaking of air transport, Chan Mei-po noted that Hong Kong International Airport is also the world's busiest cargo airport, marking the 14th consecutive time this year. Hong Kong's passenger volume is also approaching 200,000 per day. The three-runway system was fully put into service at the end of last year, which will lead Hong Kong to a new peak. In terms of the low-altitude economy, the bureau also has a series of pilot projects to test flights over Hong Kong. Chan reminded the public that many public transportation services today have discounts to celebrate the return to the motherland.
