Since Trump took office, Republican lawmakers in the United States have proposed at least eight bills to praise Trump. The Washington Post reported on Saturday (June 21) that these proposals, including "printing Trump's portrait on US dollar bills" and "making Trump's birthday a national holiday", are almost impossible to pass by Congress. The proposers only want to attract Trump's attention through the bill, leaving the national economy and people's livelihood behind.
The report pointed out that the Republican Party's "enthusiasm" for Trump in legislation is far beyond the norm. Some lawmakers have proposed to use "Trump" to name Dulles International Airport, Washington, DC. There are also proposals suggesting that the House of Representatives revoke Trump's record of being impeached twice by Congress during his first term. Catholic University of America professor White pointed out that most of the landmark buildings or facilities named after the president in the United States have been carried out only after the president leaves office or dies, and denounced the Republican "Trump fans" for their unprecedented and extremely exaggerated actions.
Casey Burgat, director of the Legislative Affairs Program at the George Washington University, analyzed that these proposals praising Trump have no chance of passing. "These congressmen just want to take advantage of their positions and propose these proposals in their own names, purely to take credit for Trump. The job of congressmen is to formulate and study laws, and these practices will only damage the reputation of Congress."
